Originally, the desire to create De la cave au grenier was born from the desire of Aëla Labbé, dancer and photographer, to propose a choreographic writing in the manner of a photographic self-portrait. Then comes Stéphane Imbert, dancer and sculptor, nourished by his own unique representations, memories and inspirations.

The self-portrait is a convenient way for the artist who grabs his model, but he cannot reveal everything. Here convenience is above all a two-person proposition, and if duality opposes and questions, it also binds. 

Dualities are not opposites but fertile dynamics, ferments of the play’s dramaturgy, a back and forth between choreographic writing and scenographic elaboration, body and plastic language, confrontation and response, moving and static, past and present, presence and absence, both.

From the cellar to the attic is a choreographic piece fashioned with four hands, it is the story of a transposition, that of a concrete and fantasized house, the one that we live in and the one(s) that inhabit us. We visit these secret and exposed spaces, in which we live and which melt us. Spaces crossed by the reminiscence of our intimate folklores, funny and skinned, dark and bright.
